Channel One Adds Curriculum

Channel One (New York), producer of a daily educational news show, is offering curriculum targeting nonfiction literacy and critical thinking skills.

The curriculum is a subscription offering for grades 3-5 and 6-8. It uses nonfiction video and text that integrates English language arts with areas that include science, geography and college and career readiness. Students complete activities, do writing exercises and take short formative assessments to demonstrate understanding.

Thomson Reuters Acquires Dominio Sistemas

Thomson Reuters Corp. recently agreed to acquire Brazilian accounting software developer Dominio Sistemas for an undisclosed sum. The transaction is subject to the fulfillment of certain conditions.

The deal aligns with Thomson Reuters' strategy to complement its product offering with integrated software solutions for small, medium-sized and large accounting firms in Brazil.

FCC Investment in Connectivity Applauded

The Federal Communications Commission in January made plans to invest $2 billion over the next two years to expand high-speed Internet connectivity for schools and libraries, in line with the Obama ConnectED initiative.
